Oklahoma State had 10 new starters in the lineup against Savannah State tonight. Oklahoma State has now won seven straight home games after going undefeated at Boone Pickens Stadium in 2011. It was OSU's first undefeated home season since 1984 and just the 11th in school history. The school record for consecutive home wins is 10 (from Sept. 21, 2002 until Oct. 18, 2003).

The Cowboys set a modern-era school record for points scored in a season opener with 84 points, besting the previous record of 65 set against Washington St. in 2010. The most points OSU has ever scored in a game was 134 against Phillips in 1914.
Oklahoma State is now 66-40-5 all-time in season openers, including 7-1 under Mike Gundy. The Cowboys haven't dropped a season opener since a 2007 loss at Georgia. In home openers, OSU now has an all-time record of 78-28-5. OSU has also now won a school-record 17 straight home openers, dating back to 1995 against Nebraska (the first game for then-OSU head coach Bob Simmons).
In eight season openers under Mike Gundy, OSU is averaging 44.3 points per game. In home openers since 2006, the Cowboys are averaging 58.5 points per game.
The OSU offense has now scored over 60 points for the third straight season opener, with an average of 70 points over the past three years.

True freshman quarterback Wes Lunt set a school record with a perfect completion percentage (11-11), edging out Bobby Reid's 90 percent (9-10) effort against Baylor in 2006.
Career Win No. 60 For Gundy
Mike Gundy recorded his 60th career win at OSU tonight, ranking him second all-time behind only Gundy's college coach, Pat Jones (62-60-3).

Breaking Records
OSU set a modern-era school record with 84 points, surpassing the previous high of 70 scored against Kansas in 2011. It's the most OSU has scored in a game since 1916 when the team scored 117 points against Southwestern.
OSU also set the Big-12 record for points in a game, topping Texas Tech's 80 in 2005 against Sam Houston St.
OSU tied a school record with 35 points scored in a quarter, matching the record set against Kansas (2011), Southern Illinois (1972) and Baylor (2002).
The Cowboys set a new record with nine rushing touchdowns, exceeding the previous record of seven against UTEP in 1977.
OSU tied a new school record with nine punt returns, matching the nine the team had against Missouri State (1996) and against Texas Tech (1943).
Notable Statistics
The OSU defense recorded a shutout at Boone Pickens Stadium for the first time since 2001 against Northwestern St. It also recorded the first shutout in a season opener since blanking Wichita State in 1975.
OSU had two players eclipse 100 rushing yards in tonight's game for the first time since last year's Bedlam matchup in Stillwater. It is also the 32nd time OSU has had multiple players reach 100 rushing yards in one game.
The Cowboys had 102 punt return yards in the first half of tonight's game. OSU had 79 punt return yards over the course of the entire 2011 season.
