Cowgirl Tennis Releases 2012-13 Schedule

Stillwater, Okla. -The Cowgirl Tennis team released its schedule for the 2012-13 season, it was announced today. The fall schedule begins at the Missouri Invite in Kansas City on the weekend of Sept. 21.
Five events are set for the fall portion of the schedule, including the Missouri Invite, the ITA All-American, the Air Force Invite, the ITA Regional Championships, and the Lakewood Ranch Clay Court Classic.
"The fall season will be a good test for us as we are participating in some familiar events but against opponents we don't often see," head coach Chris Young said. "We are looking forward to getting started in a few weeks at Missouri's event in Kansas City."
Oklahoma State opens the spring portion of their schedule in Wichita, Kan., for a non-conference matchup against Wichita State on Jan. 19.
The Cowgirls will make an appearance at the ITA Kickoff Weekend, a four team regional in Athens, Ga., on Jan. 27-28. The winner of the regional will advance to the national indoor championships.
Oklahoma State will play five more non-conference games before beginning Big 12 play against Kansas State in Stillwater on March 8.
The schedule features 10 teams that appeared in the national tournament last season, and eight opponents that finished last season ranked in the top 25. The non-conference schedule will prove to be a test for the Cowgirls, with every opponent having held a top 25 ranking last season.
"In the spring, I believe we have our strongest schedule in many years with eight top 25 teams," Young said. "We want to take another step forward in the growth of our program, building off of last season's NCAA Tournament berth."
The Cowgirls close out the regular season schedule with a Bedlam matchup against Oklahoma in Stillwater on April 20. The Big 12 Championships are scheduled for April 25-28 in Norman, Okla.
