Cowboy Basketball Foreign Tour -- Day 8

On their only full free day in the Canary Islands, the Cowboys took a five-hour catamaran boat ride out into the Atlantic Ocean. While some of the players were leery at first, they quickly changed their minds when they were told of the activities that were planned on the day tour.
The catamaran took off from Puerto Rico, an inlet on the southwest corner of the island. The bus ride to Puerto Rico was itself an intriguing trip, going through several tunnels that had been dug out of the mountainous region. The island of Gran Canaria was formed by volcanoes, and there are several remnants of their construction.
The boat took off away from the island and headed southwest, away from the port. After about an hour, the boat turned north and headed towards the western-most point of Gran Canaria. A light lunch was served before the signup for jet skiing and parasailing began.
Most all of the Cowboys signed up for one or the other (or both). Several started out on the banana boat and worked their way up. In fact, despite the policy of only one ride on the banana boat per passenger, Le'Bryan Nash snuck on at least three times. The water was cool and salty, but nearly everyone jumped in and took a swim.
All in all, it was a good bonding experience for the players, coaches and staff.
Thursday's game has been moved up to 4 pm locally (10 am Central time). A game recap will be posted in the afternoon.
