Blumer Wins Collegiate Reining Championships

OKC, Okla. – Jenna Blumer took home top honors in the Collegiate Reining Championships at the National Reining Horse Association Derby at the State Fair Arena Saturday.
The Oklahoma State junior scored a 219 in the contest to earn the top spot. Her score was five and a half points better than any other competitor in the championship.
Blumer is the third Cowgirl to win the title, with Kristen Dickerson earning top honors in 2004 and Leah Kuehn winning in 2009.
Former Oklahoma State reiner Caroline Daniels also earned a top 10 spot in the competition, placing ninth overall.
The Collegiate Reining Championships are among the most prestigious individual collegiate reining competitions and are made up of the top four riders from the National Collegiate Equestrian Association, the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association and the Nationals Reining Horse Association.
Blumer was a member of the 2011-12 Big 12 Champion Oklahoma State equestrian team, earning a 10-5-1 record on the season, including a spotless 3-0 record at the NCEA National Championships.
