Stillwater, Okla. — Oklahoma State second baseman Ari Morrison has been named second-team All-Midwest Region by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association, it was announced Thursday afternoon.
A sophomore from Irvine, Calif., Morrison led the Cowgirls in both runs scored (21) and stolen bases (14) this season, spending most of her time in the leadoff spot in the lineup. She started all 51 games this season and batted .288 with 42 hits in a team-high 146 at-bats.
Morrison led the team with 13 multiple-hit games and, at one point in the season, reached base safely in a team-high 11 consecutive games. She has already stolen 29 bases in her two-year career, ranking eighth in school history.
A solid infielder as well, Morrison had just four errors in 173 fielding opportunities at second base, good for a .977 fielding percentage. She was also involved in six double plays this season.
