Cowgirls Earn All-Big 12 Accolades

Stillwater, Okla. — Three Oklahoma State softball players have been named All-Big 12 Second Team, it was announced today by the league office. Senior shortstop Chelsea Garcia, junior outfielder Tamara Brown and freshman outfielder Shelby Davis have all been named to the second team.
Garcia is a three-time All-Big 12 Second Team honoree, having also been named in 2010 and 2011. She is just the sixth Cowgirl to be named All-Big 12 on three occasions since the conference formed in 1996. The Moore, Okla., native led OSU with 23 runs batted in and was tied for the team lead in home runs with two.
Davis, who played both right field and centerfield for the Cowgirls, is the 11th OSU freshman to be named All-Big 12. She led the team in batting with her .310 average, and was tied with Brown for the team high with 44 hits. Brown, a native of Sentinel, Okla., hit .303 on the season with a team-high seven doubles, and also led the squad with her .409 on-base percentage and .366 slugging percentage.
Oklahoma State has had at least three players selected to the All-Big 12 team in each of the last four years and 21 of the last 25 seasons, dating back to the Big Eight Conference. Since the Big 12 formed in 1996, 43 different Cowgirls have been named All-Big 12 a combined 61 times.
