Stillwater, Okla. — Oklahoma State's Cowgirl softball team will host the sixth-ranked Oklahoma Sooners on Wednesday, April 11, at 7 pm at the Cowgirl Softball Complex. It's round two of Bedlam, and the game will be televised by Cowboy Sports Properties and Cox Communications.
The Cowgirls are 18-15 overall this season and 2-5 in Big 12 Conference action, sitting in seventh place in the league standings. Oklahoma is 32-5 overall, 8-2 in league play and sitting atop the Big 12 standings. OU defeated OSU 4-0 in the first meeting of the season two weeks ago.
Junior Tamara Brown is leading the Cowgirls with her .326 average. She also leads the team in slugging percentage (.404) and on-base percentage (.434). Freshman Shelby Davis is hitting .295 with a .375 on-base percentage, while sophomore Ari Morrison is batting .275 with eight stolen bases.
In the circle, junior Kat Espinosa is 10-7 with a 2.07 earned run average. She has 23 appearances, including 12 starts and 11 relief appearances. Espinosa has three no-hitters, three shutouts and two saves this season. Sophomore Simone Freeman has compiled a 6-6 record this season with a 2.35 ERA. The Australian is averaging one strikeout per inning pitched, with 92 Ks in 92-1/3 innings pitched. She has 19 appearances and 16 starts with two shutouts.
Oklahoma leads the all-time series with Oklahoma State, 71-70. The Cowgirls are 35-24 all-time against the Sooners in Stillwater.
