Oklahoma City, Okla. -- Kelsey Anchors got Oklahoma State's only hit of the game, and Oklahoma shut out the Cowgirls 4-0 here Wednesday evening in Big 12 softball action.
The first three Sooner runs to score were leadoff walks. Cowgirl pitcher Kat Espinosa walked leadoff hitter Destinee Martinez. Three batters later, Lauren Chamberlain knocked in Martinez with a bases-loaded single. OSU was fortunate to escape the inning with just allowing the one run, as Espinosa forced a foul out, a strike out and a ground out to end the threat.
In the second and third innings, Espinosa walked the leadoff hitter, only for them to eventually score. Javen Henson, the Sooners' nine-hole hitter, hit a long home run over the fence in left-centerfield with the bases empty to make the final score 4-0.
Anchors got her hit in the second inning with two outs, but was forced out on a fielder's choice the next batter. OSU got a runner to second in the third, but two more fielder's choices ended that inning as well. Ari Morrison reached on an error to start the sixth, but Sammy Jo Diffendaffer grounded into a double play the following batter. Sooner starter Keilani Ricketts faced just three batters over the minimum.
Oklahoma State (16-13, 1-3 Big 12) will host the Texas A&M Aggies in a three-game series this weekend, starting on Friday at 7 pm at the Cowgirl Softball Complex.
