Oklahoma State Head Coach Jim Littell
Opening Statement
"I was very proud of our team tonight. In the second half when we got rolling there for about a seven- or eight-minute span, it was the best we've been all year long, both on the defensive end of the floor and on the offensive end of the floor. We had a combination of getting run-outs, finding people open on the break, and executing good sets when we needed to. I thought we really, really played well. We beat a good basketball team. They're experienced. They're difficult to guard because they throw a lot of shooters at you. I'm just very, very proud of the way we played. Toni (Young) has continued to play very well in the WNIT, and has been a big boost for us, and (Liz Donohoe) had a very special night: 25 (points) and 14 (rebounds). I think I'm even more proud of the 14 rebounds...It was a good win for us. We're excited, and our crowd was just unbelievable."
On the defense
"Our guards continue to get better defensively. Sometimes we take some wrong angles, but for the most part, we handled the weave pretty well. We switched guard to guard. We missed an assignment early in the game, but I don't think we missed one after that. Some of the shots they hit were challenged. I didn't feel as though they had many open looks all night."
On the inside game
"We've focused, in the last 6 or 7 games, on trying to go inside and balance between our inside and outside game. We've made a concerted effort on that, and I believe we've gotten better because there's been more balance in our attack."
On Liz Donohoe
"What I'm proud of is that she comes to play every day in practice, she comes to play in the game. She's had some rocky games. She'll admit that to you, but she comes back. What's exciting about her is that she really wants to be a basketball player. Basketball is very important to her. She puts a lot of time in on it. Somebody that spends that much time in the gym earns games like this."
Junior Toni Young
On the physical nature of the game
"We're fighting for a championship, so it's going to be aggressive every game from now on and we've just got to play through it."
"Playing the post, you get thrown around here and there, but you've got to fight through that. It's just a little bruise. It will go away."
On the extra practice time in the postseason
On their attitude entering the WNIT
"We wanted to keep playing and prove them wrong (about not putting us in the tournament)."
Freshman Liz Donohoe
On if this was the best she's felt while playing this season
"Yes, definitely. It was the best I've felt. Just the crowd and how we were all playing, it was just fun. We had fun and we got going."
