Stillwater, Okla. — Oklahoma State's Cowgirl softball team will travel to Lawrence, Kan., this weekend to open the Big 12 Conference portion of its schedule. OSU and the Kansas Jayhawks will take the field for a three-game weekend series, starting at 5 pm on Friday.
The Cowgirls are 15-10 overall this season while KU is 20-5 overall and 0-3 in league play. Oklahoma State is 66-43 all-time against the Jayhawks, including a 20-10 record in Lawrence.
Junior Tamara Brown is leading the Cowgirls with her .366 average. She also leads the team in slugging percentage (.451) and on-base percentage (.464). Sophomore Ari Morrison is batting .338 with eight stolen bases, while freshman Shelby Davis is hitting .304 this season with a .381 on-base percentage.
Junior Kat Espinosa is 8-4 this season with a 2.14 earned run average after picking up a shutout win over Wisconsin on Sunday. She has 16 appearances, including nine starts and seven relief appearances. Espinosa has three no-hitters, three shutouts and a save this season. Sophomore Simone Freeman has compiled a 5-4 record this season with a 2.29 ERA. The Australian has 76 strikeouts in 70-1/3 innings pitched. She has 14 appearances and 11 starts with two shutouts.
The series will continue on Saturday with a game set for 2 pm, and will conclude on Sunday with a game at noon.
