Cowgirl Softball Travels to California

STILLWATER, Okla. (OSU Athletics Junior Tamara Brown leads the Cowgirls at the plate with a .435 average. She has 10 hits including a double and 5 runs batted in. The pitching staff has a 2.96 earned run average. Sophomore Simone Freeman has a 2-2 record, 2.25 ERA, 31 strikeouts in 24 innings pitched, and 24 hits for just six earned runs.
On Thursday, Oklahoma State will play Pacific (2-5) and BYU (7-3). The Cowgirls are 2-1 all-time against Pacific and last played in 2002 when OSU beat the 10th-ranked Tigers. They are lead by junior Nikki Armagost who is hitting .409 and leads the pitching staff with a 1.56 ERA. OSU has a 2-3 all-time record against BYU who has had two wins over ranked opponents already this season.
On Friday, the Cowgirls will take on Northwestern (3-5) and No. 15 Arizona (8-3). Three of the losses for Northwestern Wildcats have come from ranked opponents and they defeated No. 17 Texas A&M. They are hitting .285 as a team and the pitching staff has a combined 5.45 ERA. The last match-up between the Cowgirls and the Wildcats was in 2010 when OSU won 5-4 in 10 innings.
The Arizona Wildcats have three losses this season and they are all against ranked opponents. They are hitting .351 as a team and are led by Lini Koria who has a .607 average, four doubles, four home runs and 10 RBIs. OSU has a 11-16 all-time record against the Wildcats, including a 2-3 record during the Women's College World Series.
On Saturday, the Cowgirls will wrap up the tournament with No. 19 Oregon. The Ducks are hitting .373 as a team and are led by Allie Burger who has a .571 average. Jessica Moore leads the pitching staff with a 2.16 ERA and a 2-2 record.
