OSU Track Wins Two Titles at Oklahoma Invitational

NORMAN, Okla. - Sophomore Caitlin Way and junior Taylor Monaghan each picked up individual titles at the Oklahoma Invitational on Saturday, hosted by the University of Oklahoma.

Way set a new personal best in the weight throw with a 17.82-meter effort to take first place. Way's throw ranks as the third-best in OSU indoor track history. Monaghan took first place in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 2:31.92.

OSU also got top-five finishes from sophomore Natanya Luther and freshman Chelsey Phoebus in the one-mile run, finishing fourth and fifth respectively. Luther clocked a 5:10.40 mile, while Phoebus came in at 5:18.51. Freshman Jacy Steelman placed fourth in the long jump with a 5.21-meter effort.

The track and field program will travel to College Station, Texas, next weekend, Feb. 24-25, to compete at the Big 12 Championships, hosted by Texas A&M at the Gilliam Indoor Stadium.
