COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -
Oklahoma State's women's tennis team continued their strong play at the United States Air Force Academy Invitational in Colorado Springs, Colo., on Saturday.
After receiving a bye in the first round of the tournament, senior C.C. Sardinha won her first match of the weekend when she defeated Colorado State's Kaley Schultz 6-3, 7-6. Sardinha will play Nikki Sanders of Texas Tech in the round of eight in the “Bravo” singles bracket on Sunday.
Cowgirl freshman Maria Alvarez won her second round match against Oregon's Rabea Stueckemann when Stueckemann was forced to withdraw due to injury in the second set. Maria Alvarez will play in the “Charlie” singles bracket round of eight Sunday.
Meghan Blevins, competing in the “Alpha” bracket, played her flight's second round match Friday, so she did not play today. Blevins will take on Diana Davitalia of Eastern Michigan on Sunday morning.
With all three Cowgirls still alive in their respective brackets, Oklahoma State hopes to finish strong in Colorado Springs on Sunday.
