PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. -
The Oklahoma State women's tennis tandem of Malika Rose and Kanyapat Narattana lost in the round of 16 at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-American Championships in Pacific Palisades, Calif., on Thursday.
The duo defeated the No. 35-ranked doubles team in Julianna Rodin and Agustina Sol Eskenazi of Pennsylvania 8-5 in the first event of the tournament's main draw to advance to the round of 16.
Rose and Narattana faced a tough test in the second match of the day, as they were matched up against the top-ranked doubles team Sabrina Santamaria and Kaitlyn Christian of USC. The pair of Cowgirls fell short, however, losing to Santamaria and Christian by a score of 8-3.
“I am proud of our girls for their development,” Cowgirl Tennis coach Chris Young said. “It has allowed them to become one of the better teams in the country, and today it showed. We played the best team in the country even for eight games, but they made plays in the end. Our girls have a better understanding of where they can improve in the coming weeks. Overall, it was a great experience for our girls.”
