Cowgirls Continue Fall Schedule

Oklahoma State's women's tennis team continues its fall schedule this weekend as the Cowgirls travel to Colorado Springs, Colo., to compete in the Air Force Invitational, while Malika Rose and Kanyapat Narattana compete in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-American Championships in Pacific Palisades, Calif.
Rose and Narattana To Compete in ITA All-American Championships
Both Rose and Narattana will be making their first appearance in the tournament when they compete in the doubles main draw this weekend. The main draw of the tournament is set to begin on Thursday, Oct. 4, and will feature 64 singles players and 32 doubles teams from around the nation. The tournament wraps up on Sunday, Oct. 7. Singles quarterfinalists, doubles finalists, and consolation champions will receive automatic entry into the USTA National Indoor Championships in Flushing Meadows, N.Y., from Nov. 8-11.
Cowgirls Travel to Air Force Invitational
After finishing its first tournament of the season in Kansas City, the Cowgirl Tennis team sets its sights on the Air Force Invitational in Colorado Springs, Colo. Oklahoma State will compete among a large field of teams, including Air Force, Colorado, Colorado State, Denver, Northern Colorado, Wyoming, Eastern Michigan, Arizona, Illinois, South Dakota State, Texas Tech, Oregon, and Washington State. The tournament is set to begin on Friday, Oct. 5 and wrap up on Sunday, Oct. 7. Information on draws and times will be made available later in the week.
Last Time Out
Oklahoma State opened up its fall season earlier this month when it played in the Missouri Aces for the Cure Tournament in Kansas City, Mo. Meghan Blevins started the season strong, finishing third in the tournament in singles play. The tandem of Rose and Narattana had a rough start to the fall season, going 0-2 in their matches. Cowgirl freshman Maria Alvarez defeated Saana Sarteinen of Tulsa in two sets to pick up the first win of her collegiate career. Oklahoma State won three of its last four matches on the final day to finish the tournament strong.
C.C. Sardinha Falls in Singles Pre-Qualifying at ITA All-Americans
Cowgirl C.C. Sardinha competed in the pre-qualifying rounds of the ITA All-American Championships this weekend. Sardinha won her first round match against Denver's Sophia Bergner by a score of 6-7(5), 6-4, 6-4, but fell to Julia Elbaba of Virginia in the second round 6-0, 6-2.
Cowgirls in the Rankings
The Cowgirl doubles team of Rose and Narattana will head into the All-American Championships sitting at No. 14 in the ITA women's doubles rankings. In the singles rankings, Rose holds the No. 101 spot, and C.C. Sardinha is ranked No. 97.

"I am excited for Malika and Kanyapat to participate in this event. Their doubles play has really improved, and this is an opportunity for them to continue their development."
On the Air Force Invitational:
"This event will be a great opportunity for the three girls participating. I feel all three have improved this semester and I am excited for them to play this weekend."
Eyeing the Opponents
Oklahoma State will compete with several other talented teams in the Air Force Invitational. The 13 teams that make up the field combine to feature 12 players ranked in the ITA preseason rankings.
