Cowgirls Shut Out OBU, 18-0

Stillwater, Okla. -- Oklahoma State pounded out 24 hits while the Cowgirl pitching staff allowed just three by Oklahoma Baptist as OSU defeated the Lady Bison 18-0 here Thursday night in fall scrimmage action.
Seven different Cowgirls had at least two hits, while 12 had at least one. Sophomore second baseman Ari Morrison went 5-for-8 on the evening with five runs scored in the leadoff position. Senior Julie Ward went 3-for-4 with three runs batted in, while designated player Tarah Ettinger continued her hot streak, going 2-for-3 with four RBIs, including a bases-clearing double.
The OSU pitching staff was just as effective. Sophomore Morgan Hawkins started in the circle for the Cowgirls and allowed just one hit in five innings while striking out eight. Fellow sophomore Simone Freeman came on in relief in the sixth and was dominating as well, allowing just two hits while striking out seven.
Oklahoma State (2-0) will travel to Fayetteville, Ark., this Saturday for a doubleheader with the Arkansas Razorbacks.
