McMullen World Champion at AQHYA

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. -- Lindsey McMullen garnerned World Champion honors in
the Horsemanship category at the American Quarter Horse Youth Association
World Championships in Oklahoma City Tuesday. Three other Cowgirls earned
Top 10 status as freshman Katy Krshka finished with a bronze medal
performance and sophomore Katie Ralph snagged ninth place in Horsemanship.
Freshman Kaitlin Townsend secured a sixth place finish in Reining.
"I was already looking forward to the beginning of the semester but now I'm
really excited about our opportunities for this coming season,"
head coach Larry Sanchez said. "We knew these girls were talented and they
really proved it today."
McMullen and company had to compete with a field of 169 riders in
Horsemanship while Townsend battled a Reining field 118 strong.
McMullen adds to her long list of AQHYA accomplishments, including a bronze
trophy finish in 2010. Lindsey is a four time All- American Quarter Horse
Congress Champion and has won numerous Reserve Congress Championships and
top ten finishes. She has been in the top five and top ten of the AQHYA
national year-end high point
standings in Showmanship, Horsemanship, Equitation and Trail.
The Cowgirls kick off the 2011-12 campaign October 1, 2011 when they host
Southern Methodist at Animal Science Arena.
