Farrell Wraps Up Outdoor Season at NCAAs

DES MOINES, Iowa – Oklahoma State's Tom Farrell put the finishing touches on the outdoor track and field season Saturday as he earned USTFCCCA Second-Team All-America honors for his performance in the men's 5,000 meters at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Drake University.
Farrell, a junior from Carlisle, United Kingdom, finished in 15th place with a time of 14:00.24, about 30 seconds behind champion Sam Chelanga of Liberty.
It marked Farrell's first time to compete at the NCAA Outdoor Championships and his second time to receive All-America honors, as he was a first-team All-American in during the 2010 cross country slate.
With his result, OSU concludes its competition at the 2011 NCAA Outdoor Championships, which also saw Tone Hjalmarsen, Natalja Piliusina and Colby Lowe earn USTFCCCA All-America honors for their respective performances.
