Three Cowgirls Named All-Midwest Region

Knoxville, Tenn. -- Three Oklahoma State Cowgirl softball players were named to the All-Midwest Region team, announced today by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. Junior Chelsea Garcia was named to the first team, while seniors Mariah Gearhart and Alysia Hamilton were named to the second team.
Gearhart and Hamilton were both named all-region for the third time in their careers. Hamilton was a first-team selection in 2009 and a second-team honoree in 2008. Gearhart was named first team in 2009 and second team in 2010. For Garcia, it is her first regional honor.
Gearhart and Hamilton are the fourth and fifth Cowgirls to be named all-region on three occasions since the NFCA began keeping an all-region team in 1988. Garcia is just the second OSU shortstop to receive all-region honors in school history, joining two-time All-American Shari Johnson.
All three Cowgirls were also named All-Big 12 on Tuesday. They and the rest of the Cowgirls will play 19th-ranked Georgia Tech on Friday at 3 pm CT in the first round of the NCAA Regional Tournament.
