Knoxville, Tenn. -- Oklahoma State's 22nd-ranked softball team is in Knoxville, Tenn., this week for the NCAA Regional Tournament. The Cowgirls will play No. 19 Georgia Tech on Friday at 3 pm CT at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium on the University of Tennessee campus.
OSU is 37-17 overall this season and will serve as the No. 2 seed in the Knoxville Regional. The Cowgirls' opponent on Friday, the No. 3-seed Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, are 44-10 overall this season, 18-2 in the Atlantic Coast Conference and the ACC regular-season champions.
Oklahoma State ranks No. 7 nationally in fielding percentage with one of the top-10 defenses in the country. The Cowgirls lead the Big 12 Conference with 19 double plays turned this season. The Yellow Jackets rank No. 1 nationally in slugging percentage at .607 and are second in the country in home runs with 99, trailing only Florida's 104.
The other game in the Knoxville Regional will pit No. 5 Tennessee against Liberty, the Big South Conference tournament champion. That game is scheduled for Friday at 5:30 pm CT.
