Cowgirls Selected to NCAA Tournament

Stillwater, Okla. — Oklahoma State's 20th-ranked softball team will travel to Knoxville, Tenn., to compete in the regional round of the NCAA Tournament, it was announced this evening. The Cowgirls will serve as the regional No. 2 seed and will play No. 19 Georgia Tech in the first round of the regional tournament on Friday at 3 pm CT (4 pm ET).
OSU is 37-17 overall this season and finished 8-10 in Big 12 Conference action. The Yellow Jackets are 44-10 this season and finished 18-2 in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Georgia Tech won the regular-season title, but lost to Virginia in the first round of the ACC Tournament.
Host-school Tennessee, ranked No. 7 nationally but serving as the 14th overall seed in the NCAA Tournament, will host Liberty in the first round. The Volunteers are 47-10 overall, finished 20-8 in the Southeastern Conference and won the SEC Tournament with a 6-5 win over Georgia.
Oklahoma State is 1-1 all-time against Georgia Tech and 0-1 vs. Tennessee. The Cowgirls have never played Liberty.
This marks Oklahoma State's third-consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance and the 18th overall trip to the NCAA Tournament. The Cowgirls have made six appearances in the Women's College World Series, most recently in 1998.
