STILLWATER, Okla. – Oklahoma State tennis player Sarah Meghoufel was honored by the ITA this week for her outstanding sportsmanship on the court this season, as she received the 2011 Central Region Arthur Ashe Leadership & Sportsmanship Award.
“Sarah is the perfect recipient of this award, because she excelled on and off the court and was a great leader for our program,” coach Chris Young said. “She will succeed in anything she does in the future.”
Meghoufel, a native of Oran, Algeria and a senior on this year's squad, was a leader throughout her two-year career at Oklahoma State.
After transferring from Indiana State for her junior season, Meghoufel was named the 2010 Big 12 Newcomer of the Year, as well as the 2010 Big 12 No. 4 singles champion. She was honored for work in the classroom in 2011 as she was named to the All-Big 12 Academic First Team.
She wrapped up her career with an overall singles record of 76-43.
