Seven Cowgirls Named Academic All-Big 12

Stillwater, Okla. -- Oklahoma State had seven softball players named Academic All-Big 12, it was announced today by the league office. Junior shortstop Chelsea Garcia was one of five players who received special recognition for her perfect 4.0 grade point average.
Other Cowgirls who made the first team are: senior catcher Ashley Boyd (majoring in dietetics & exercise), junior right fielder Sammy Jo Diffendaffer (human development & family sciences), sophomore pitcher Kat Espinosa (secondary education/foreign language), senior third baseman Mariah Gearhart (sports media) and senior pitcher Sarah Odom (secondary education/social studies). Garcia is majoring in secondary education/mathematics.
Junior outfielder Kelsey Anchors was named to the Academic All-Big 12 Second Team, majoring in exercise & health.
This season marks the 11th time since the Big 12 formed in 1996 that Oklahoma State has had at least six student-athletes named to the Academic All-Big 12 Softball Team.
