Stillwater, Okla. — Oklahoma State's 18th-ranked softball team travels to Waco, Texas, this weekend for a two-game conference series with the No. 16 Baylor Bears. Games are scheduled for 6:30 pm on Friday and 2 pm on Saturday.
Oklahoma State is 34-11 overall this season and 5-4 in Big 12 Conference action, tied for fourth place in the league standings. Baylor is 35-8 overall, 7-3 in league play, good for third place in the Big 12.
The Cowgirls are led by seniors Alysia Hamilton and Mariah Gearhart. Hamilton is batting .406 this season with 37 runs scored and 29 runs batted in from the third spot in the lineup. Gearhart, the leadoff hitter, is the all-time OSU career record holder for runs scored (174) and stolen bases (112). She is hitting .400 with 43 runs scored this season.
In the circle, sophomore Kat Espinosa is 17-5 with a 2.38 earned run average and four shutouts. A pair of freshmen — Simone Freeman and Morgan Hawkins — are a combined 15-5. Senior Sarah Odom is 2-1 with a 2.67 ERA.
Oklahoma State swept the Bears last season in a two-game series in Stillwater. The Cowgirls own the all-time series record, 26-17, including an 18-15 mark since the Big 12 formed in 1996.
