BRYAN, Texas - Oklahoma State's men's golf team posted a 737 total on Saturday to stand in second place through 36 holes at The Aggie Invitational at Traditions Golf Club.
Playing a 6-count-5 format, the Cowboys' 17-over tally for the day put them eight shots behind tournament host Texas A&M at the par-72, 7,146-yard layout. The Aggies posted a 1-under 359 during their second round to finish the day at 729. Texas Tech held down the third spot at 748.
Fresh off his appearance at The Masters Tournament last weekend, Cowboy junior Peter Uihlein fired a 5-under 67 during his afternoon round to stand at 139 and four shots clear of SMU's Kelly Kraft. The duo finished as the only two players among the 72 participants to finish under par for the day.
The top-ranked player in the country, Uihlein made his return to the OSU lineup after a two-event absence with an opening 72 to stand in eighth place before following with a 67 to move to the top spot on the individual leaderboard.
During his second round, the Orlando, Fla., native played a clean front nine that included birdies at the fifth and ninth to make the turn at 2-under 34. Uihlein added a birdie at the 10th before making his lone bogey of the round two holes later. However, he responded with three-straight birdies and closed with three pars in a row to get to his 5-under total.
After opening with a 1-under 71, junior Morgan Hoffmann carded a 73 to stand at even-par 144 and tied for third place.
Senior Kevin Tway made it three Cowboys in the top 10 after the Edmond, Okla., native wrapped up the day tied for fifth place at 1-over 145 after carding rounds of 73 and 72.
Sophomore Sean Einhaus posted rounds of 78 and 77 for a 155 total to finish among a group tied for 43rd place.
Joining Einhaus at 155 was classmate Drew Page, who carded an opening 77 before signing for a 78.
Freshman Talor Gooch followed an opening 80 with a 77 to come in with a 157 total and tied for 51st place.
The Cowboys will begin their final round tomorrow at 8:24 a.m. (CST) and will be grouped with Texas A&M and Texas Tech.
