Cowgirls Drop Texas On Senior Night, 68-67

STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's women's basketball team held off Texas on Senior Night, defeating the Longhorns 68-67 on Senior Night in front of 2,444 fans inside Gallagher-Iba Arena.
In the final home game for seniors Lakyn Garrison and Precious Robinson, the Cowgirls snapped a five-game losing streak with the win to improve to 16-13 overall and 4-12 in Big 12 play. The Longhorns fell to 18-12 and 7-9.
After Texas jumped out to an early six-point lead, the Cowgirls reeled off a 15-0 run to that saw them make seven-straight shots from the floor to take a 20-11 lead with less than eight minutes left in the first half.
The Longhorns chipped away at the margin and got a pair of 3-pointers on consecutive possessions from Chassidy Fussell to regain the lead at 28-27 with 37 seconds left in the half.
OSU did not trail long as freshman Vicky McIntyre scored 25 seconds later to send OSU into the intermission with a 29-28 advantage.
The second half was tightly contested through the first 14 minutes with six ties and neither team leading by more than five. The Cowgirls gained a little breathing room on a jumper by sophomore Toni Young, which pushed OSU's lead out to 55-48 at the six-minute mark.
A pair of free throws by freshman Tiffany Bias extended the margin to nine with two minutes left before Texas staged a late rally.
After a pair of free throws, the Longhorns forced a turnover and Yvonne Anderson's layup cut the lead to 61-56. Anderson hit a 3-pointer on Texas' next possession to trim the margin to three at 62-59 with a minute left.
OSU led 68-64 with 19 seconds remaining and held off the Longhorns until a Kristen Nash 3-pointer at the buzzer provided the final margin.
Bias led OSU with a career-high 21 points, while McIntyre added 15 and Young found her way into double figures with 11 points of her own.
Anderson led Texas with 21 and was one of four Longhorns in double figures.
The Cowgirls will return to action on Tuesday in the first round of the Big 12 Championship in Kansas City. OSU will be the No. 11 seed and will face sixth-seeded Texas Tech at 7:30 p.m.
