Cowgirls Ready For Big 12 Championships

STILLWATER, Okla. - The No. 4 Oklahoma State equestrian team (6-4) looks to win its second Big 12 Championship in three seasons when they travel to Bryan, Texas for the Big 12 Championships this weekend.

About The Championship

Oklahoma State hosted the inaugural Big 12 Championship two years ago in Stillwater, taking top honors. The Baylor Bears hosted last season, winning their first title. This year, the Texas A&M Aggies host the championship, looking to be the third different school in as many years to host and win the tournament.

Last Time Out

The Cowgirl hunt seat team defeated the SMU Mustangs, 7-2, in Wilmer, Texas last weekend. The highlight of the day came from freshman Ali Rose when she rode to an 89-0 victory and earned MVP honors in equitation on the flat.

About The Pokes

The Cowgirls are 6-4 on the year, including a 5-1 record in Stillwater and a 4-2 record in conference matchups. The western team is 7-4 this season and the hunt seat team boasts an 8-3 record. OSU will be the No. 2 seed in the championship.

About The Opponents

Texas A&M is the top-ranked team in the nation and boasts a 10-1 record, their only loss coming at the hands of the Cowgirls. They are the No. 1 seed for the Big 12 Championships. The Baylor Bears are 8-5 on the season and ranked fifth in the nation. They are the No. 3 seed this weekend.

The Kansas State Wildcats are 5-8 on the season and ranked seventh in the nation. They are the No. 4 seed in the tournament.

Cowgirls In The Rankings

Oklahoma State remains in the fourth spot in the Women's Intercollegiate National Coaches Poll. The Pokes debuted the season in the No. 3 spot. They received 50 points in the initial poll, 23 points behind then top-ranked Georgia.
