Garcia Named Big 12 Player of the Week

Stillwater, Okla. — Oklahoma State shortstop Chelsea Garcia has been named the Big 12 Conference's Player of the Week, it was announced today, for the period ending March 27. It is Garcia's first honor of the season, and the second of her career.
Garcia had at least one hit in all four games last week. She went 7-for-14 (.500) with four of her seven hits going for extra bases. Garcia was 2-for-4 with two doubles and four runs batted in against North Texas. In Saturday's game against Iowa State, she hit a three-run home run and also had a walk. Against the Cyclones on Sunday, she went 3-for-3 with a home run, a walk, two runs and three RBIs.
For the week, she had 10 RBIs and three runs scored. Her two doubles and two homers propelled her to a 1.071 slugging percentage. She also compiled a .563 on-base percentage.
Garcia is the second Cowgirl to receive Big 12 weekly accolades this season. Pitcher Kat Espinosa was named the league's pitcher of the week for the period ending Feb. 27.
Garcia and the Cowgirls will host the Border Wars on Wednesday, with Tulsa and Arkansas visiting Stillwater. Games are scheduled at 3, 5 and 7 pm and will be played at the Cowgirl Softball Complex.
