Cowgirl Hunt Seat Defeats SMU, 7-2

WILMER, Texas -- The Oklahoma State equestrian hunt seat team defeated the SMU Mustangs in dominating fashion, 7-2, at BuckBranch Farm Sunday.
"This is a good win to finish off the regular season," assistant coach Suzanne Flaig said. "We need to use the momentum we gained today to go in and have a strong showing at the Big 12 tournament next week."
The Pokes got off to a hot start, winning the first four possible head-to-head matchups in equitation on the flat. The highlight of the day came when freshman Ali Rose rolled to an 89-0 victory and earned MVP honos. Alice White, Jordan White and Ellie Sparks all picked up wins in the disciplines. Andrea Robbins tied her counterpart, 82-82, giving the Cowgirls a 4-0-1 win on the flat.
Oklahoma State need just one head-to-head point in equitation over fences to ensure an overall Cowgirl victory, but instead got three. Sammy Elser starting off the scoring with an 82-73 victory. Alice White picked up her second point of the day with an 83-76 win and Erin Prutow won the final head-to-head matchup of the day, 78-55.
The Cowgirls will be back in action when they travel to Bryan, Texas next weekend for the Big 12 Championships.
