Cowgirls Compete in Florida

Stillwater, Okla. — Oklahoma State's 20th-ranked Cowgirl softball team travels to Clearwater, Fla., this Friday through Sunday to compete in the USF-The Game Tournament, hosted by the University of South Florida. OSU is scheduled to play five games over a three-day span.
The Cowgirls will open the tournament on Friday at 4:30 pm CT with a game against Kent State (6-11). OSU will continue on Friday night with a game against Florida Atlantic (13-13) at 7 pm.
On Saturday, Oklahoma State will open the day against Florida Gulf Coast (13-16) at 11:30 am, followed by a game against USF (15-13) at 4:30 pm. OSU will conclude the tournament on Sunday at 8:30 am with a game against Rutgers (10-10).
The Cowgirls are led by senior Alysia Hamilton who is batting .430 with a team-leading seven doubles and four home runs. The second baseman also has 22 runs batted in. Senior third-baseman Mariah Gearhart is batting .412 with 30 runs scored and 21 stolen bases.
In the pitching circle, sophomore Kat Espinosa is 10-2 this season with a 1.49 earned run average. She also has three shutouts and 74 strikeouts. Freshman Simone Freeman is 7-4 with a 1.88 ERA and 79 Ks in 70 innings in her rookie season.
