Espinosa Named Pitcher of the Week

Stillwater, Okla. — Cowgirl softball pitcher Kat Espinosa has been named the Big 12 Conference's Pitcher of the Week, it was announced today by the league office. It is the Oklahoma State sophomore's first weekly honor.

Last weekend, Espinosa went 3-0 with a 0.00 earned run average. She threw a three-hit, complete-game shutout against top-ranked Georgia in a 1-0 OSU victory. She also threw a complete-game shutout against Massachusetts, and picked up a win against Long Beach State, throwing four innings of relief in a 5-3 victory.

On the season, Espinosa is 7-0 with a 1.36 ERA. She has five complete games, two shutouts and a save. In 52.1 innings pitched, she has struck out 42 batters and allowed just 30 hits.

Espinosa and her teammates will travel to Tulsa, Okla., on Wednesday as Oklahoma State (12-3) takes on the Tulsa Golden Hurricane (10-5) at 5 pm at the Hardesty Complex on the TU campus.
