LUBBOCK, Texas - Oklahoma State's women's basketball team dropped its fourth-straight contest on Saturday night, falling 57-48 to Texas Tech in front of 7,536 fans inside United Spirit Arena.
The Lady Raiders (20-8 overall, 7-7 Big 12) held the Cowgirls (15-12, 3-11) scoreless for the first four minutes of the game and opened the contest on a 16-2 run.
OSU came out cold, hitting just one of its first 10 field-goal attempts, but answered with a 10-0 run, including six points from freshman Vicky McIntyre, to cut the deficit to five at 19-14 with 10 minutes remaining in the first half.
Tech answered with the game's next six points to push the margin back into double figures at 25-14. The Cowgirls closed the gap to 25-21, but Tech's Casey Morris drilled her third and fourth 3-pointers of the half inside the final minute of play to send the Lady Raiders into the halftime locker room up 31-23.
The second half got off to a sloppy start for both teams with neither squad scoring for the first three minutes and combining for four turnovers.
A 3-pointer by freshman Tiffany Bias drew the Cowgirls within four at 37-33 with 13 minutes remaining before a jumper by sophomore Toni Young drew the Cowgirls within a bucket two minutes later.
Senior Lakyn Garrison nailed her third 3-pointer of the game from the top of the key with just under 10 minutes to go to give OSU its first lead of the contest at 40-39. McIntyre extended the margin with a pair of free throws at the eight-minute mark.
With Tech leading 49-44, Bias made a conventional 3-point play to pull OSU within one possession at the 2:52 mark, but OSU could get no closer.
Morris paced all scorers with 17 points, while McIntyre led OSU with 14 points.
The Cowgirls will return to action on March 2 when they travel to Norman, Okla., to face the Oklahoma Sooners at 7 p.m.
