Cowboys Remain In Third In Puerto Rico

RIO GRANDE, P.R. - Oklahoma State's men's golf team remained in third place following the second day of action at the Puerto Rico Classic after posting a 3-under 285 team total on Monday at Rio Mar Country Club.
With one round remaining at the par-72, 6,902-yard layout, the top-ranked Cowboys stand at 8-under 568 and six shots off the lead. Alabama posted the low round of the day with a 281 to move into a tie for first with Georgia Tech at 562.
Alabama's Bud Cauley posted a 68 to gain sole possession of the individual lead at 7-under 137.
OSU junior Morgan Hoffmann fired a 5-under 67 to move from 15th place into a tie for second at 138 with Georgia Tech's James White. Hoffmann started his day on the second hole and overcame a slow start that saw him bogey his first two holes. After bouncing back with birdies at Nos. 4 and 5, the Wyckoff, N.J., native bogeyed Nos. 7 and 8 to head to the back nine at 2-over par.
Hoffmann caught fire over his final 10 holes, carding four birdies and an eagle to post a 6-under 30 on his outward nine. He then birdied the par-4 first hole to get to 5-under for the day.
Freshman Talor Gooch posted his second consecutive 71 to move into a tie for 10th place at 2-under 142.
Junior Peter Uihlein also climbed the leaderboard, moving from a tie for 28th into a tie for 15th place after signing for a 72 to come in at even-par 144.
After opening with a 69 to stand in a tie for first place, senior Kevin Tway dipped into a tie for 22nd place at 1-over 145 after posting a 76 during his second round.
Sophomore Drew Page wrapped up the day in a tie for 40th place at 147 after carding a 75 on Tuesday.
The Cowboys will begin their final round tomorrow morning at 7:30 a.m. (AST) and will be grouped with Georgia Tech and Alabama.
