Cowboys Hold on Against OBU

Stillwater, Okla. — Oklahoma State struggled offensively, but the Cowboys played hard enough on defense and forced enough turnovers to come out on top with a 66-53 exhibition win over Oklahoma Baptist here Sunday afternoon. The Cowboys finished 2-0 in preseason play.
Senior Keiton Page led all scorers with 18 points, connecting on 5-of-9 shots from the floor, including both three-point attempts, and 6-of-6 free throws. Junior Jéan-Paul Olukemi drove the lane several times and finished with 14 points, including 10 from the charity stripe.
Oklahoma State trailed by nine at 16-7 just over nine minutes into the game. However, the Cowboys went on a 12-0 run and took a 19-16 lead before the Bison would score again. The Pokes led by a 33-23 count at intermission.
Oklahoma Baptist would no go away lightly. The Bison cut the lead to five less than five minutes into the second half at 38-33 when Marques Anderson made a three pointer. The lead was down to four with 10-1/2 minutes remaining when Emmanuel Wilson was successful on a conventional three-point play. OSU's lead was four once again with 7-1/2 minutes left in the game before the Cowboys outscored OBU 17-8 down the stretch.
Freshman Le'Bryan Nash finished with 10 points while sophomore Markel Brown chipped in nine off the bench. Redshirt freshman Michael Cobbins started for the Cowboys and responded with six points and a team-high nine rebounds.
Oklahoma State will open the regular season on Friday, Nov. 11, as the Cowboys host the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders inside Gallagher-Iba Arena. Tipoff is set for 7 pm.
