Cowgirls Come Up Short Against Aggies, 14-8
Oklahoma State falls to 2-1 on the season and 1-1 in conference competition.
BRYAN, Texas - The No. 5 Oklahoma State equestrian team fell to the second-ranked Texas A&M Aggies, 14-8, at the Brazos County Expo Complex Saturday.
"Texas A&M is a very good team who rode well today," coach Larry Sanchez said. "We made some costly errors that you cannot make against a good team at their house. They are fixable errors and we plan on making those adjustments before TCU tomorrow."
Both the western and the hunt seat teams fell by a 7-4 margin. Jordan White highlighted the day for the Cowgirls, going 2-0 in head-to-head competition on the afternoon. The senior earned an 81-77 win over her Aggie counterpart in equitation on the flat before earning an 84-80 decision in equitation over fences. White remains undefeated on the flat this season and is 4-1 overall in head-to-head competition. Sophomore standout Andrea Robbins tied her competition with an 87 on the flat, the highest team score in the discipline.
A pair of freshmen joined White with victories in equitation over fences to maintain a tie in the discipline. Olivia Trueb had a team high with her 85-83 decision while Allie Walsh rode her way to an 82-77 victory.
Katy Krshka led the way on the western side, earning head-to-head wins in both disciplines. The freshman earned the second MVP honor of her career with a 76.5-73 victory in reining, and added a 78.5-77.5 win in horsemanship. Junior Christy McElreath joined Krshka in reining with a 74-73 victory while redshirt sophomore Lauren Halvorson shined in horsemanship with a 76.5-74.5 head-to-head win.
