Freshman Le'Bryan Nash recorded a double-double with 26 points and 11 rebounds, and the Cowboys scored 41 points off 33 turnovers as Oklahoma State defeated Panhandle State 105-56 here Wednesday night in exhibition action. The win extended OSU's winning streak in exhibition contests to 22 games.
The Cowboys trailed by four early, down 4-0 just 1-1/2 minutes into the game. At the 14-minute mark, OSU was still down by one at 10-9, but a pair of free throws by redshirt freshman Brian Williams tied the game and a jumper by RS frosh Michael Cobbins just a minute later put the Pokes ahead for good. OSU led 51-26 at halftime.
Nash scored 26 points on just 14 shot attempts, making eight from the floor. He was very effective at the charity stripe, connecting on 10-of-11 free throws. He also had three steals and two assists.
Four other Cowboys scored in double figures, including senior Keiton Page and sophomore Markel Brown who each had 16. Williams had 14 while Jéan-Paul Olukemi chipped in 13 points.
The Cowboys aggressive full-court press forced the Aggies into 33 turnovers with OSU credited with 22 steals, including a game-high six by Page. The Pokes scored 25 fast-break points in the game.
Oklahoma State will host the NAIA's seventh-ranked team, Oklahoma Baptist, in its final exhibition game on Sunday afternoon at 2 pm before starting the regular season next Friday, Nov. 11, when the Cowboys host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
