STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State cross country senior Colby Lowe has been named the men's Big 12 Runner of the Week, the conference announced today.
Lowe helped lead the top-ranked Cowboys to a victory at the Cowboy Jamboree in Stillwater over the weekend. Lowe placed second in the 8,000-meter race, recording a time of 23:47.96, which is the ninth-best time in Jamboree history.
It is the second time Lowe, a native of Southlake, Texas, has earned the weekly award. He was named Big 12 Runner of the Week on Oct. 20, 2009, when he earned his first collegiate victory at the Chile Pepper Festival, running the 10,000-meter race in 29:30.90.
It is also the second such award for the Cowboys this season, as redshirt freshman Kirubel Erassa received the award on Sept. 6 for placing first in the four-mile race at the Hurricane Festival in Tulsa, which is the only other event the Cowboys have competed in this season.
