STILLWATER, Okla. - For the fourth-consecutive season, Oklahoma State cross country coach Dave Smith has been named the Big 12 Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year, the conference announced today.
The award comes after Smith helped guide the OSU men's cross country team to its fourth-straight Big 12 Championship in College Station, Texas, last weekend.
The Cowboys have claimed the team championship in every meet they have competed in this season. They have also won two individual titles in four meets, including German Fernandez's second Big 12 cross country individual championship.
In six years as head coach at OSU, Smith has led the Cowboys to four Big 12 Championships, while coaching four individual conference champions and 30 All-Big 12 performers.
Smith looks to add to his resume in Stillwater as the Cowboys will compete at the Midwest Regional on Nov. 12, and then vie for their third-straight national title at the NCAA Championships on Nov. 21 in Terre Haute, Ind.
