Cowgirls Advance at USTA/ITA Central Regional

TULSA, Okla. – The Oklahoma State women's tennis team opened play at the USTA/ITA Central Region Championship Friday as two singles players and a pair of doubles teams advanced to the round of 16.
Meghan Blevins and Kanyapat Naratanna highlighted singles play, with each recording a pair of wins to advance.
Malika Rose added a win in the opening round, but was unable to get past the round of 32.
The Cowgirls had an impressive day on the doubles courts as all three teams picked up a win and two advanced to the round of 16.
Blevins and Mary Jeremiah, as well as Narattana and Rose, received first-round byes before easily handling their round of 32 opponents.
Leyla Simmons and C.C. Sardinha also teamed for a first-round win before dropping their second-round match.
“We played great today in doubles,” coach Chris Young said. “It was something we emphasized a lot this week so I was happy with the results. Tomorrow we need to bring good energy and I look for Kanyapat and Meghan to continue their leadership in that area.”
The Cowgirls finished the day with a 5-4 singles record and a 3-1doubles mark. They resume play at the event Saturday morning.
