Cowboys Tie For Second At Olympia Fields

OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. - Oklahoma State's men's golf team carded a 286 total during its final round at the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational on Sunday to finish tied for second place at Olympia Fields Country Club.
The Cowboys finished the event with a 12-over 852 tally to tie for second with Augusta State at the par-70, 7,205-yard layout. Florida posted a seven-shot victory after closing with a 285 to finish at 845.
OSU junior Peter Uihlein wrapped up the fifth individual title of his collegiate career after posting a third-round 70. The Orlando, Fla., native finished with a 6-under 204 total to come in three shots clear of the field.
On Sunday, Uihlein sandwiched bogeys at Nos. 3 and 5 around a birdie at the fourth to turn at 1-over 36. He got back to level par with a birdie at the 11th. After a bogey at the 14th, Uihlein used a birdie at the par-5 15th to move back to even for the day.
For the third-straight day, senior Kevin Tway posted a 1-over 71 to finish tied for 11th place at 213.
Junior Morgan Hoffmann rebounded from a 75 during his second round with an even-par 70 to finish in a tie for 24th place at 216.
Making his first-ever start as a Cowboy, true freshman Talor Gooch posted a 75 to finish at 223 and tied for 51st place.
Redshirt freshman Kevin Dougherty, who was making his OSU debut as well, posted a 77 to finish tied for 58th at 224.
The Cowboys will be back in action next weekend when they host the Ping/Golfweek Preview at Karsten Creek in Stillwater.
