Cowboy Golf Second At Olympia Fields

OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. - Oklahoma State's men's golf team used a 280 team total during its second round on Saturday at the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational to move into a tie for second place heading into its final round at Olympia Fields Country Club.
The Cowboys entered the day in fifth place, but moved into a tie for second with Augusta State after posting their even-par score. OSU has a 36-hole total of 566, 6-over par, and will begin its third round at the par-70, 7,205-yard layout six strokes behind Florida in the team race.
OSU junior Peter Uihlein vaulted to the top of the individual leaderboard after firing a 65 on Saturday. The Orlando, Fla., native turned in a bogey-free effort that include a pair of birdies on the front side to turn at 2-under 33 before using a four-hole stretch that included birdies at Nos. 13, 15 and 16 to close out his 5-under day. Uihlein will take a two-stroke lead over Alabama's Bud Cauley into Sunday's round.
Senior Kevin Tway posted his second-straight 71 to stand in a tie for 16th at 142, while junior Morgan Hoffmann dipped into a tie for 36th place at 146 after posting a 75.
Redshirt freshman Kevin Dougherty carded a 72 to stand in a tie for 43rd place at 147, while true freshman Talor Gooch's 72 gave him a 148 total and tied hi for 49th place.
The Cowboys will begin their final round at 9:20 a.m. (EST) and will be grouped with Florida and Augusta State.
