STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State women's tennis team opens its fall schedule this weekend as the Cowgirls travel to Atlanta, Ga., to compete in the Georgia Tech Invitational at the Bill Moore Tennis Center.
In addition to OSU, teams from Georgia Tech, Georgia and Yale will face off in the three-day flighted tournament, set to get underway at 10:30 a.m. Friday, with Saturday's play beginning at 10 a.m. and Sunday's matches beginning at 9 a.m.
“It's a great opportunity for our girls to face some of the top competition in the country early in the season,” Cowgirl tennis coach Chris Young said. “The teams competing in the tournament all have top-level talent and I'm excited to have the chance to go out there and compete against them.”
Oklahoma State returns six letterwinners from a squad that finished 13-10 in dual play last year and finished as the No. 62-ranked team in the final ITA rankings.
Seniors Nataliya Shatkovskaya, Sasha Belova and Sarah Meghoufel, junior Alisa Buslaieva, sophomore newcomer C.C. Sardinha and freshman Kanyapat Narattana will all compete for the Cowgirls in the season-opening event.
