Monaghan Finishes Strong At Junior Nationals

DES MOINES, Iowa - Oklahoma State freshman runner Taylor Monaghan capped a productive effort at the USA Track and Field Junior National Championships by placing fifth in the 1,500 meter finals Saturday evening at Drake Stadium.
A native of Tulsa, Monaghan was clocked at a personal-best 3:51.59 in the 1,500 meters Saturday night. He finished second among runners that are current collegiate athletes. He previous personal best in the 1,500 meters was set less than 24 hours prior, when he set a 3:53.31 in the event semifinals.
He placed sixth in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 9:14.83 earlier in the week.
The USA Track and Field Junior Outdoor Championships are open to any U.S. citizen who does not turn 20 years old during the 2010 calendar year.
