Cowgirls Qualify Two in 1,500 Prelims

AUSTIN, Texas – Both of Oklahoma State's entrants in the 1,500 meters advanced to Saturday's national quarterfinal for the chance to advance to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore.
Junior Mihaela Susa qualified eighth overall with a time of 4:23.81. She advanced as one of the top five finishers in her heat.
Senior Natalia Kovtun, who was a late add after declarations for the NCAA preliminary round, qualified as one of the top four times that did not finish in the top five in her respective heat. She crossed the line in 4:25.50.
Susa and Kovtun will compete in Saturday's national quarterfinal round that will advance the top five from the two heats and the next two fastest times. Those 12 finishers will advance to the NCAA Championships round in Eugene on June 9-12.
In the 10,000 meters, junior Felicity Milton narrowly missed out on qualifying for the NCAA Championships.
She finished 14th in her race with a 34:53.17. The top 12 finishers advanced to the next round.
