Stillwater, Okla. -- Anna Whiddon threw a no-hitter through six innings and Julie Ward hit a three-run home run as Oklahoma State's 11th-ranked softball team defeated Nebraska 4-0 here Saturday afternoon at the Cowgirl Softball Complex.

The Cowgirl senior gave up back-to-back hits to lead off the seventh inning before forcing Husker Gabby Banda to ground into a double play and Kirby Wright to strike out to end the game. Whiddon struck out eight while walking none while picking up her sixth shutout of the season and improving to 21-6 on the year.

Mariah Gearhart led off the bottom of the first inning for OSU with a hit-by-pitch. Katelyn Bright lined out to third base, but was granted first on a catcher's interference call. With one out, Julie Ward hit her team-leading 10th home run of the season over the wall in left centerfield, giving OSU a 3-0 lead.

The Huskers got on base for the first time in the third inning as Wright was hit by a pitch and with one out, advanced to second when Tori Tyson reached on an error by Ward at first base. However, Whiddon worked out of the jam, forcing a popup and a lineout to end the threat.

Oklahoma State added a run in the sixth. With two outs, Kelsey Anchors walked and Gearhart was hit by her second pitch of the game, moving her within two of the NCAA career record of 67. With runners on first and second, Bright hit a ball to right field, scoring Anchors.

The Cowgirls improved to 42-11 overall this season and 11-4 in Big 12 Conference action. The Huskers fell to 28-24, 6-9 in league play. The two teams will play another game Sunday at noon at Cowgirl Stadium.
