Stillwater, Okla. -- Oklahoma State's 11th-ranked softball team used a six-run second inning, propelling the Cowgirls to an 8-0 run-rule victory over the Nebraska Huskers and a sweep of the two-game series here Sunday afternoon at the Cowgirl Softball Complex.

Freshman Kat Espinosa threw a three-hit shutout, her seventh of the season, and improved to 19-4 on the season. She threw just 60 pitches in the five-inning game while striking out one.

OSU exploded for six runs in the second thanks to a pair of bases-loaded doubles by Katelyn Bright and Chelsea Garcia. With one out, Husker starter Robin Mackin gave up two walks and a single to Megan Castle to load the bases. She was replaced by Ashley Hagemann, who promptly gave up a first-pitch double down the leftfield line to Garcia.

The Nebraska hurler issued a walk to Kelsey Anchors, loading the bases. Then, with the 11th pitch of the at-bat, Hagemann plunked Mariah Gearhart, plating pinch runner Breana Casaus from third. Katelyn Bright followed with her sixth double of the season, clearing the bags.

The Cowgirls added two more runs in the bottom of the fourth. Garcia led off with a home run to centerfield, her fourth of the season. One out later, Gearhart once again reached first base after being hit by a pitch, tying the NCAA career record with the 67th of her career. She eventually scored on a fielder's choice.

Oklahoma State (43-11 overall, 12-4 Big 12) remains in third place in the Big 12 Conference and will host 22nd-ranked Texas A&M (39-13, 10-6) in a two-game set next weekend at Cowgirl Stadium. Games are set for 2 p.m. on Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday.
