STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State won its third-straight game Tuesday night as the Cowboys knocked off St. Gregory's, 9-4, at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium.
With the win, OSU improved to 22-13, which includes a 17-6 record at home. St. Gregory's is now 8-25 on the season.
Kevin David was 2-for-4 with four RBIs to lead the Cowboys' attack, while Mark Ginther had three hits and three RBIs in four trips to the plate. Davis Duren also extended his hitting streak to a career-long 15 games with a seventh-inning single.
On the mound, Cowboy freshman Trevor Walch picked up the first win of his career as he worked 5.2 scoreless innings of relief. The right-hander allowed just four hits and struck out a career-high six to improve to 1-1.
The Cowboys opened with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning. A solo home run by David, his fifth homer of the season, provided the game's first run, and an RBI single by Ginther plated Nico Rosthenhausler to give OSU a 2-0 advantage.
St. Gregory's would answer in the third as the Cavaliers rallied for all four of their runs in the frame and knocked OSU starter Mike Strong from the game.
SGU collected five hits in the inning, all singles, and scored all four of its runs with two outs. Kenny Gooch's two-RBI single with the bases loaded tied the score at 2-2, and Trevor Nelson followed with an RBI base hit of his own to give the Cavaliers the lead. The third consecutive RBI single came off the bat of Trey Sears and put SGU up, 4-2.
The Cowboys added a run in the bottom of the third on an RBI double by Ginther, and Dean Green's RBI double in the fifth tied the score at 4-4.
OSU would take the lead in the sixth with a three-run rally, getting RBI hits from Tom Belza and Ginther and a sacrifice fly from David to take a 7-4 lead.
The final two runs in the contest came in the seventh as a double down the left field line by David brought home a pair of Cowboys.
OSU returns to action Wednesday when the Cowboys host Oklahoma Wesleyan at 4 p.m.
