Cowboys Finish Productive Day at Mt. Sac

WALNUT, Calif. - Oklahoma State's Cowboy track team completed its competition at the Mt. Sac Relays with John Kosgei, Colby Lowe and Raul Botezan turning in solid times.
Raul Botezan notched the fastest 1,500 meter time of the season for the Cowboys, crossing the line in 3:44.86. Depending on the results of other meets being contested around the country this weekend, Botezan should be near the top-10 in the NCAA West Region.
It was the first time of the season the Cluj-Napoca, Romania, native competed in the 1,500 meters.
Kosgei was the first Cowboy to cross the line, clocking a time of 13:42.17. It was the first 5,000 meter time of the season for the Eldoret, Kenya, native.
Lowe finished closely behind Kosgei with a time of 13:42.60. It was the first action of the outdoor season and first since the NCAA Indoor Championships for the Southlake, Texas, native.
Kosgei and Lowe finished 22nd and 23rd, respectively. However, only nine of the runners that finished in front of them were representing a university. Going into this weekend, the second-fastest time in the NCAA West Region for the 5,000 meters was 13:45.45.
