Cowgirls Travel To Varsity Equestrian National Championships

The fourth-ranked Oklahoma State women's equestrian team will travel to Waco, Texas to take on the nation's best at the Varsity Equestrian National Championships April 15-17.
The Cowgirl western team is the No. 3 seed and receives a bye in the first round of the tournament. They will take on the winner of sixth-seeded Kansas State and the No. 11 seed Delaware State. The Cowgirls are 3-0 against the Wildcats this season.
The hunt seat team comes in to the tournament as the sixth seed and will go against the eleventh-seeded Southern Methodist Mustangs. Oklahoma State beat the SMU hunt seat team 7-3 in the Cowgirls' home opener in the fall.
Seniors Ally Blais and Rachell Shobe and freshman Marissa Dalton will represent the Cowgirls in the individual bracket. Blais will compete in equitation on the flat. She is 10-3 on the year in the discipline and has compiled five MVPs. She enters the tournament as the number one overall seed and will take on eighth-seeded Katie Breedlove from the University of Auburn.
Rachell Shobe is the number four seed in the individual reining competition. She is 7-4 on the season in the discipline and has collected five MVPs, including her most recent at the Big 12 Championships. She will meet fifth-ranked Sarah Locker from the University of Georgia.
Marissa Dalton represents the Cowgirls as the fifth seed in the horsemanship competition. She is 9-2-1 in the discipline and has three MVPs on the year. She will ride head-to-head with fourth-seeded Courtney Chown from Texas Christian University.
