Cowgirl Softball Hosts Missouri State

Stillwater, Okla. — Oklahoma State's Cowgirl softball team, fresh off a sweep of No. 25 Baylor in the Big 12 Conference opener this past weekend, will take a short break from league play and host Missouri State on Tuesday, March 30, at 5 p.m. at Cowgirl Stadium.
The 15th-ranked Cowgirls are 29-7 on the season and 2-0 in conference play following a 6-3 win over Baylor on Sunday. OSU is tied for first place in the Big 12 Conference. The 29-7 mark is the Cowgirls' best record through 36 games since the 1994 season.
Oklahoma State is led offensively by junior third baseman Mariah Gearhart. The Chula Vista, Calif., native is batting .421 this season with 45 runs scored, second in the Big 12 Conference. Sophomore first baseman Julie Ward is second on the squad with her .363 average and leads the team with 43 RBIs, 17 doubles and seven home runs.
In the pitching circle, senior Anna Whiddon is 15-3 overall this season with a 2.03 earned run average and 118 strikeouts in 106-2/3 innings. She also leads the Big 12 with four saves. Freshman Kat Espinosa, a native of Houston, Texas, is 11-3 this year with a 1.53 ERA and 90 strikeouts in 96 innings.
Missouri State is 8-17 this season and 3-3 in Missouri Valley Conference play. The Bears are led by junior Christa Gammon who is batting .342 with a team-high 26 hits, 14 runs and six doubles. In the circle, Missouri State is paced by senior Lauren Supak who is 4-4 this season with a 3.52 ERA. Six Oklahomans are listed on the Bear roster.
